Multiscale analysis scheme for injection molded products in view of fiber length distribution

The purpose of this study is to develop a modeling method for microstructures of fiber-filled injection molded products to perform reliable multi-scale simulations based on the homogenization. A numerical model of microstructure, which is composed of non-continued fibers, is generated by using the Monte-Carlo method to take into account the actual distributions of fiber lengths. The orientation distributions of fibers can be controlled by the orientation function, while their spatial positions are set completely at random. Each fiber is assumed to be an alignment of spheres with the same radius to detect the overlap of two adjacent fiber regions,and two overlapped fibers are divided two small fibers. A numerical example is presented to confirm that the fiber length distribution agrees with the experimental result.
