Setfosを使用していて気付くことは、エンドユーザーに優しいプログラムであるということです。特段の使用法を知らなくとも、分かりやすいアイコン、一目で分かるパラメータ群、ビジュアライズされた光学モデルは、シミュレーションを行う上での初動を助けます。勿論、掃引したいパラメータの個別設定やモード解析、配光分布の計算などアウトプットの詳細設定も充実しています。私は主に学生向けの光学シミュレーションの説明に使用していますが、最先端の研究トピックにも問題なく対応できます。たとえば、光学定数と膜厚が既知の薄膜の中で、ダイポールの向きを変化させてp偏光の発光が遠方界でどのような分布を持つのかをSetfosを利用して計算したところ、実験結果をよく再現し、薄膜中にドープされた色素分子の分子配向秩序を調べることができました。(Komino et al., Chem.
