Q.001:How can I sync my calendar with iCal?

Syncing iCal via iCloud
Setup syncing with iCloud on both your iPhone / iPad and your Mac. Please refer to the following information in order to setup syncing with iCloud on each device. (iOS 5 or later and Refills V2.0 or later are required in order to sync with iCloud.)
Setup iCloud on all your devices. (iOS)
Setup iCloud on all your devices. (Mac)

Important notice for iOS calendar syncing
Please make sure you have the appropriate calendar sync setting if you're using iCloud or other cloud services.

(1)From the iPhone/iPad home screen, launch 'Settings' app.
(2)Select 'Mail, Contact, Calendar' > 'Calendar' > 'Sync'.
(3)Select appropriate synchronization period. By factory default, the synchronization period is set to 30 days, so the older events will be deleted from your device automatically.

Syncing iCal via iTunes
(1)Connect your iPhone/iPad to your Mac.
(2)Launch iTunes if it wasn't automatically launched.
(3)Select your iPhone/iPad under 'Devices' in the left pane.
(4)Click the 'Info' tab.
(5)To turn on calendar syncing, select "Sync iCal calendars "(you may need to scroll down to see this).
(6)Select "All calendars" or "Selected calendars"
(7)Change the "Do not sync events older than 30 days" option if you need. If you want to sync all events, turn the check off.
(8)Click 'Apply' and iTunes will sync the information to your device.

Q.002:How can I sync my calendar with Outlook?

Refills syncs with iOS standard calendar that can sync with Outlook. There are following two ways to setup syncing.

【Syncing Outlook via iCloud】
Setup syncing with iCloud on both your iPhone / iPad and your Windows PC. Please refer to the following information in order to setup syncing with iCloud on each device. (iOS 5 or later and Refills V2.0 or later are required in order to sync with iCloud.)
Setup iCloud on all your devices. (iOS)
Setup iCloud on all your devices. (Windows)

Q.003:The pop-up reminders are not working on my device. Why?

Refills syncs with both the iOS standard calendar and Google Calendar. The reminders registered to the events in the iOS standard calendar will be popped up by the iPhone/iPad standard calendar application, and those registered to the events in Google Calendar will be popped up by Refills. If you cant see any pop-ups, please check the following settings.

【For iOS standard calendar】
(1)From the iPhone/iPad home screen, launch 'Settings' app.
(2)Select 'Notifications' > 'Calendar'
(3)Make sure to set the "Alert Style" to 'Banners' or 'Alerts' in order to make the reminders popped up on your device.

【For Google Calendar】
(1)From the iPhone/iPad home screen, launch 'Settings' app.
(2)Select "Notifications" > 'Refills'
(3)Make sure to set the "Alert Style" to 'Banners' or 'Alerts' in order to make the reminders popped up on your device.

Q.004:How can I change the color of the events?

Events will be shown in colors determined by the calendar color settings. If you are using iPhone, it's 'More' > 'Settings' > 'Calendar Options' > 'Colors' (On V2.1 or earlier, it's 'More' > 'Select Calendars' > 'Calendar Options' > 'Colors'. If you are using iPad, tap the settings icon and select 'Calendar Options' > 'Colors' You can select from the following options.

【Specified by Calendar Settings】
・The color settings for calendars in iOS standard calendar can be changed in the iPhone/iPad standard calendar application.
Tap 'Calendars' > 'Edit' and you can specify the colors for each calendar.
・The color setting for calendars in Google Calendar can be changed in your Google Calendar settings. Please follow the  instructions in Google Calendar Help

【Manually selected】
You can select colors for each calendar manually.

Q.005:I have already bought Refills on iPhone. Can I also use it on iPad?

Yes you can. Refills is a universal application, which means that you only have to buy once in order to run on both your iPhone and iPad.
(Note: The Lite version doesn't support iPad.)

Q.006:How can I sync my calendar with iCloud?

Refills syncs with iOS standard calendar that can sync with iCloud. Please refer to Setup iCloud on all your devices. (iOS) in order to see how to set up iCloud syncing on your iPhone / iPad. (iOS 5 or later and Refills V2.0 or later are required in order to sync with iCloud.)

iOS Calendar Syncing

Q.007:Old events disappear. Why?

Refills refers to the built-in iOS Calendar which follows the settings for the standard calendar app. Please make sure you have the appropriate calendar sync setting if you're using iCloud or other cloud services.

(1)From the iPhone/iPad home screen, launch 'Settings' app.
(2)Select 'Mail, Contact, Calendar' > 'Calendar' > 'Sync'.
(3)Select appropriate synchronization period.

(Note: By factory default, the synchronization period is set to 30 days, so the older events will be deleted from your device automatically.)

If you're syncing your calendar via iTunes, please also check the following settings.

(1)Connect your iPhone/iPad to your Mac or PC.
(2)Launch iTunes if it wasn't automatically launched.
(3)Select your iPhone/iPad under 'Devices' in the left pane.
(4)Click the 'Info' tab.
(5)Change the "Do not sync events older than 30 days" option if you need. If you want to sync all events, turn the check off.

Google Calendar Syncing

Q.008:How can I setup syncing with Google Calendar?

You can setup syncing with Google Calendar by following the steps below.
(Note: Lite version doesn't support syncing with Google Calendar.)
Please note that you need to sign in to Google Calendar using web browser at least once after you have created your Google account. If you skipped this step, Google's server does not accept authentication request from third-party applications and error wile occur when you try to start syncing.

(1)If you are using iPhone, select 'More' > 'Settings' > 'Calendar Options' > 'Sync' (On V2.1 or earlier, it's 'More' > 'Select Calendars' > 'Calendar Options' > 'Sync'). If you are using iPad, tap the settings icon and select 'Calendar Options' > 'Sync' and modify settings for the sync range if needed.
(2)Tap the 'Sign in' button on the "Show Calendars on Google" section.
(3)Sign in to your Google account and allow the access request from Refills in the Google's access confirmation page.
(4)Wait until initial syncing is completed. It may take several minutes depending on the amount of data you have in your Google account.

Google Tasks Syncing

Q.009:How can I setup syncing with Google Tasks?

You can setup syncing with Google Tasks by following the steps below.
(Note: Lite version doesn't support syncing with Google Tasks.)

(1)Setup syncing with Google Calendar. (Please follow the steps described in the previous topic How can I setup syncing with Google Calendar?
(2)If you are using iPhone, select 'More' > 'Settings' (On V2.1 or earlier, it's 'More' > 'Select Calendars'). If you are using iPad, tap the settings icon and open the 'Settings' view.
(3)Turn on 'Tasks' in the "Show Calendars on Google" section.

Backup/Restore

Q.010:How can I backup my data?
A.010

Refills itself doesn’t store your calendar and tasks entries, instead it just refers to the database in the iOS standard 'Calendar’ and 'Reminders' app. Please make sure to backup all your necessary data by following the steps described in the page below.

(Apple Support) Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes.

Setting up syncing with iCloud Calendar and Reminders are also recommended for daily backup.

(Apple Support) Set up iCloud on all your devices.

Note
Tasks stored in the "Local Task" doesn't support iCloud syncing. Please make sure to select a tasklist in the "iOS Reminder" section in order to be synced with iCloud. (* Refills supports iOS Reminder only in Refills V3.6 or later and iOS7.0 or later.)

How to backup data in your Google Calendar account
Even if you are syncing with Google Calendar, it's also recommended to backup your calendar entries in order to prepare for unexpected server failure in Google. Please refer to the following help page how to export your data from Google Calendar.

Trouble Shootings

Q.011:The events or tasks created in Refills do not appear on Google after syncing
A.011

It seems that you have added those events or tasks to iOS Calendar (the same calendar databse used by the standard calendar app in your iPhone/iPad) or local task lists which only stored in your device. In this case, please follow the steps below.

【Modify existing events that are affected】
(1)Double tap each event that doesn't appear on Google and open the "Edit Event" view.
(2)Tap the "Calendar" row and open the 'Calendar' menu.
(3)Select the appropriate calendar from the list of "Google Calendar"

Please repeat the same steps for every events you'd like to move to Google.

【Modify existing tasks that are affected】
(1)Double tap each task that doesn't appear on Google and open the "Edit Task" view.
(Tap the "Edit Detail" button when you're in the task edit mode.)
(2)Tap the 'Task List' row and open the 'Task List' menu.
(3)Select the appropriate task list from the list of "Google Task"

Please repeat the same steps for every tasks you'd like to move to Google.

【Change the settings for default calendar and default tasklist.】
(1)If you are using iPhone, select 'More' > 'Settings' (On V2.1 or earlier, it's 'More' > 'Select Calendars'). If you are using iPad, tap the settings icon and open the 'Settings' view.
(2)Open "Calendar Options" > "Default calendar" and select the name of the calendar which will be selected by default when you add new events, from the list of "Google Calendar"
(3)Open "Calendar Options" > "Default tasklist" and select the name of the task list which will be selected by default when you add new tasks in the calendar views, from the list of "Google Task"

Q.012:Events are shown duplicated after syncing with Google
A.012

Such a situation might happen when your calendar settings are described below.
・You have also enabled Google Sync on iOS Calendar (the same calendar database used by the standard calendar app in your iPhone/iPad) so that they have same calendar contents.
・You are syncing with both iOS Calendar and Google Calendar in Refills.

Open the 'Settings' view by selecting 'More' > 'Settings' on iPhone (On V2.1 or earlier, it's 'More' > 'Select Calendars'), or tapping the settings icon on iPad, and check if your settings are such like below.

・In the list of "Show Calendars" (On V2.1 or earlier, it's "iOS Calendar"), a calendar name for Google Calendar is turned on.
・In the list of "Show Calendars on Google" (On V2.1 or earlier, it's "Google Calendar"), a same calendar name for Google Calendar is also turned on.

If this is the case for you, turning off either of the calendars will solve this problem.

Q.013:The application does not launch, or it crashes when attempting to create events or tasks.

The application files or database files might be broken in your device. Please re-install Refills by following instructions in the Apple Support > 'Reinstall the application'.

Q.014:I found an event not synced correctly with Google Calendar. How can I fix it?

Please try "Reset Sync Data" by following the steps below.
・If you are using iPhone, select 'More' > 'Settings' (On V2.1 or earlier, it's 'More' > 'Select Calendars'). If you are using iPad, tap the settings icon and open the 'Settings' view.
・Tap the "Reset Sync Data" button on the bottom of the "Show Calendars on Google" (On V2.1 or earlier, it's "Google Calendar") list.

Q.015:Error message appears during syncing with Google Calendar. What should I do?

Please make sure your Google ID and password are correct when it was an authentication error. Otherwise, Please try "Reset Sync Data" by following the steps below.

・If you are using iPhone, select 'More' > 'Settings' (On V2.1 or earlier, it's 'More' > 'Select Calendars'). If you are using iPad, tap the settings icon and open the 'Settings' view.
・Tap the "Reset Sync Data" button on the bottom of the "Show Calendars on Google" (On V2.1 or earlier, it's "Google Calendar" ) list.
